Physical Description: Athletic frame with some
remaining projection.
Mechanics: Throws
from a three-quarters arm slot. Some effort in his delivery.
Medium leg kick with an arm hook behind. Slight trunk twist.
Short strider with a vertical release. Head whack during finish
and falls off to the third base side.
Fastball:
90-93 mph. Topped out at 95 mph in college. Intriguing pitch
characteristics. Solid IVB and arm-side run. Is around the zone
consistently.
Slider: 80-84 mph.
Two-plane shape with more tilt than depth. Primary bat-missing
pitch.
Curveball: 76-79 mph. More
vertical, 1-to-7 shape. Not much of a bat-missing pitch, mostly
used to generate weak contract.
Changeup:
84-86 mph. Deceptive arm speed. Late tumbling action. Struggles
to land in the zone, but generates a high amount of whiffs. |

Career Notes: Started his college career at
Longwood where he made the Big South All-Freshman Team.
Transferred to Kentucky for his junior year. Improved there as
the season went on and was named to the All-Regional Team.
Alternated between starting and pitching in relief all three
years of college.
Summation: Athletic
left-hander with a wide-ranging arsenal. Changeup and slider
both flashed bat-missing ability in college. Is a good fit for
the Red Sox pitching development program, matching the profile
of several left-handers they have elevated in recent seasons.
Note: This page will be
