Career Notes:
Signed as an undrafted free agent with the Phillies in 2014,
traded to Arizona for international bonus pool money in July
2015. Primarily worked as a starter through mid-2017, at which
point he converted to the bullpen. Acquired by Boston as the
player to be named later in the Deven Marrero. Participated in
2018 Fall Instructional League. Missed the first month of the
2020 season with COVID-19, and missed the season's final two
weeks with left shoulder tendinitis. Missed nearly the entire
2022 season due to a back injury, attempting several aborted
comeback attempts that did not advance past rehab assignments.
Was traded to Kansas City the following offseason for shortstop
Adalberto Mondesi and a player to be named later or cash.
Summation:
Profiles as an up-and-down reliever with the ceiling of a
mainstay middle reliever. Has intriguing raw stuff,
but hasn't fully put it together yet. Fastball command and
control need refinement, as do his secondary offerings.
