Physical Description:
Average size, solid catcher’s build. Sturdy, thick lower half.
Hit: Starts open with his hands by his shoulder and
slight crouch. High leg lift. Fringy bat speed, will go to all fields.
Strong contact skills and understanding of the strike zone. Potential
below-average hit tool.
Power: Well below-average
power potential. Will hit his fair share of doubles, but unlikely to hit
for more than 10 home runs if given a full season’s worth of at bats.
Arm: Slightly above-average arm strength. Pop times
around 2.00 seconds. Quick release, does a good job in the running game.
Field: Potential to be a plus defender. Projects
confidence while working with pitcher and setting the defense. Moves well
behind the plate and does a good job smothering balls in the dirt. Solid
footwork, able to control the running game. Hustles at all times, at times
to his detriment as he uses a lot of energy backing up first base on
ground balls.
Run: Below-average speed. Not a part
of his game.
Summation: Potential organizational
player who has a long career in the high minors. Chance to make a big
league roster as a backup/emergency type who will add value with his
defense and hold his own at the plate. Strong makeup, leaves it all out on
the field. |
