  Scouting Report & Links
Physical Description: Solid frame with minimal remaining projection. Strong upper body. Fringe-average athlete.

Hit: Starts slightly open with his hands high. Short leg lift and gets foot down quick, ending up in a good hitting position. Fluid swing with a slight uppercut. Solid bat speed. Has shown the ability to turn on velocity. Struggles with recognition of secondary stuff, especially breaking balls. Aggressive hunting fastballs and rarely takes a walk. Has swing-and-miss in his game. Needs to improve his approach and become more selective at the plate.

Power: Above-average raw power. Strength-based swing with power primarily to the pull side. Future power potential depends on development of his hit tool. Average power potential.

Run: Below-average speed.

Field: Played all over the diamond in college, spending time at first base, third base, shortstop and corner outfield. Played primarily first base in 2021. Was announced as a third baseman when drafted, so Red Sox may intend to start him there.
  Arm: Average arm strength.

Career Notes: Originally drafted by the Pirates in the 23rd round of the 2018 draft. Attended East Mississippi Community College as a Freshman. Named to the MACJC All-Region team that year after leading the team in almost every offensive category.

Summation: Bat-first profile, but needs to refine approach to reach his potential. You can dream on average hit and average power, but defensive profile lags behind. There are questions about how he will handle more advanced pitching and his long-term defensive home. Made significant strides at the plate with Auburn in 2021 and will look to continue those gains in pro ball.

Note: This page will be updated with a complete scouting report after the scouting team has seen the player in person.
