Scouting Report:
Leon was an organizational catcher in the Nationals system for 8 seasons
before catching on with Boston. Made a huge offensive splash at the major
league level in 2016, which was somewhat of an aberration for his career.
Below-average contact skills with average power. No speed. Solid
defensively. Pitchers like throwing to him. Above-average throwing arm,
soft glove, good blocking skills. Great teammate. Fluent in English and
Spanish. Excellent backup or platoon catcher, but not likely an everyday
regular for a first division team long-term. |
