Scouting Report:
Big righty underwent TJ Surgery in 2005 and was converted to the
bullpen. Four-seam fastball sits around 90-92 mph, but when he's
on he can work it in the 94-96 mph range for stints. Lentz also has an average
low-80s changeup and
a developing 75-77 mph slider. Delivery is a touch lower than 3/4, with somewhat of a
slinging type motion. Works from the 3B side of the rubber.
Good intangibles. Pounds the zone aggressively. Good control,
except for the occasional tough inning - but he can struggle with
command within the strike zone. Historically fares better against
righties. If he continues to improve, particularly with keeping
consistent command and improving his secondary pitches, Lentz has the
makings of a very good MLB reliever.
