Physical
Description: Tall, large frame. Filled out with no remaining
projection.
Mechanics: Throws from a
three-quarters arm slot starting on the third base side of the rubber. Arm
heavy delivery with effort. Long arm action with a stab behind. Will vary
delivery time to the plate.
Fastball: 93-95 mph.
Has reportedly touched 98 mph. Pitch shows natural cut. Below-average
command and control profile. Potential plus pitch.
Slider:
83-85 mph. Short, horizontal shape. Pitch shows bite. Inconsistent, but
will flash above-average potential.
Changeup:
Hasn’t thrown pitch in outings scouted in 2019.
Career
Notes: Quit baseball during high school, then played at
JuCo, D-II, and D-III in college. Was not drafted, then went on to spend
some time in the Texas and Kansas City organizations, as well as the Indy
leagues. Was a Non-Roster Invitee to big league camp with the Royals in
2018. Released by the organization in April 2019 and signed by Boston soon
thereafter.
Summation: Solid high minors depth arm
due to inconsistent stuff and command and control. At his best will show
the stuff of a major league middle reliever, but lack of consistency
decreases chances of reaching his potential. |
