  Physical Description: Tall, athletic lefty. Good pitcher's frame. Maxed out.

Mechanics: Throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, starting on the third base side of the rubber. High leg kick. Mostly easy delivery, but can show a bit of recoil when he reaches back. Has a tendency to kick up his left leg inwardly post delivery.

Fastball: 88-90 mph four-seamer, uses the pitch about 50% of the time.

Curveball: Primary secondary pitch. 70-74 mph with sweeping movement and late drop.

Changeup: 79-82 mph. Show-me pitch used only about 5% of the time. Induces ground balls.		   Career Notes: Local product. Nicknamed Dick Mountain, at least on Baseball Twitter. As of September 2024, has pitched in the Cubs, Orioles, Cardinals, Red Sox, Cleveland, Red Sox (again), Angels, Yankees, Nationals, Red Sox (third time), A's, Dodgers, Twins, Rays, Mets, Red Sox (fourth), Pirates, Padres, and Red Sox (fifth) organizations, 15 in all. Has now technically signed with the Red Sox as a free agent nine times in the course of stints from mid-2010 through 2012, the first half of 2014, the end of 2015, 2022, and August 2024.

Summation: Middle to back of the rotation starter at this point in his career. Injury history makes him unreliable for the long-term, but still has shown success when healthy.
