Physical Description:
Medium-sized frame with no remaining projection.
High-waisted, very sturdy build. Looks the part. Strong,
athletic.
Mechanics: Throws from a
three-quarters arm slot from the first base side. Quick arm,
simple delivery.
Fastball: 92-94 mph.
Tops out at 95 mph. Solid feel for control but command is
inconsistent. Potential fringe-average offering.
Breaking Ball: 77-82 mph. Pitch can look like either a
slider or a curveball at times. Flashes average potential, but
lacks consistency and command and control. Potential
fringe-average offering.
Pre-Conversion scouting report:
Hit: Starts square with his
hands by his chest. Quiet pre-pitch. Toe-tap timing device.
Stiff swing. Uphill swing path. Well below-average pitch
recognition and timing. Far too much swing-and-miss in his game
and has the propensity to expand the zone. Struggles recognizing
spin. Could be a candidate for a swing change. Potential well
below-average hit tool.
Power: Plus raw
power. Strong wrists and loft in swing allow him to drive the
ball to all fields.
Run: Above-average
speed. Stolen base totals have consistently decreased as he has
gotten older.

Career Notes: Was a very intriguing outfield
prospect with plus raw power, an above-average glove, and a
plus-plus arm, but a well-below-average hit tool prevented him
from capitalizing on the potential of his other tools. Struggled
through back problems in 2017 and 2018. Signed as a priority
minor league free agent by Boston early in 2020-21 offseason.
Received a non-roster invitation to Spring Training in 2021.
Opened 2021 at the Alternate Training Site. Began a conversion
to the mound with Worcester in August 2021 before heading down
to the Fort Myers complex. Re-signed during the 2021-22
offseason ten days after becoming a free agent. Began the 2023
season on the injured list due to back issues that date back to
his time as an outfielder.
Summation: Projects as a mid-minors depth reliever.
Ceiling of an organizational reliever. Athletic and has taken
pretty well to pitching, but lack of bat-missing ability limits
upside.

Field: Above-average
defender. Has plenty of range in center field and gets good
reads.
Arm: Plus-plus arm. Can make any throw from all
three outfield spots.
Summation: Potential high-end organizational player.
Extremely gifted athlete with elite level physical tools, but
poor hitting ability significantly limits his potential. Will
likely need to make significant changes at the plate to project
to make enough contact to become a consistent major
league-quality player.
