Physical Description: Large
pitcher’s frame. Filled out, looks heavier than listed. Minimal remaining
projection. Strong lower half.
Mechanics: Throws from a
three-quarters arm slot. Starts on the first base side. Doesn’t use a
wind-up. Jerky delivery with harsh recoil. Short, quick arm action. Throws
across his body. Arm will get out of sync and get out ahead of the rest of
his delivery.
Fastball: 92-94 mph. Pitch shows arm-side run. Command and
control need refinement. Potential plus offering.
Slider: 85-87 mph. Short,
vertical break. Some feel for the pitch. Fringe-average potential.
Changeup: 86-87 mph. Firm, looks
like a fastball he takes something off. Lacks feel. Below-average
potential.
Career
Notes: Participated in 2014 Fall Instructional League.
Summation: Projects as a
low-minors organizational depth arm. Lack of a secondary offering to
compliment fastball limits upside. Doesn’t miss enough bats and command
and control need refinement to succeed against more advanced hitters. |
