Physical Description: Slightly
undersized, athletic. Looked noticeably stronger in 2025 spring
training.
Hit: Starts square and
vertical with his hands high. Leg lift timing device. Quiet load
and swing with two-handed finish. Contact-oriented swing that is
direct to the ball. Solid approach and plate discipline. Makes
consistent contact and rarely swings and misses in the zone.
Struggled to impact the ball in his pro debut, making a lot of
weak contact in the air. Potential average hit tool.
Power: Fringe-average raw power. More
gap-to-gap than over-the-fence power at present, but with
improvements to his bat speed, could hit the ball harder and tap
into his power more. Power output improved throughout his
college career.
Run: Above-average
speed. Solid instincts. Will not be a major stolen base threat,
but can take advantage if pitchers do not keep him close.
Field: Instinctual player who has a quick
first step and takes efficient routes. Has a chance to stick in
center field. Potential average defensive profile. |
|
Arm: Above-average arm strength. Plenty for any
outfield spot.
Career Notes: Younger
brother of Drew Ehrhard, a catcher in the Red Sox system who
signed as an undrafted free agent in 2023. Father, Rod, was a
catcher for four seasons in the Yankees system from 1987-90. Was
drafted by the Red Sox out of high school in the 13th round in
2021. Played for Hyannis in the Cape Cod League during the
summer of 2024. Participated in the 2025 Spring Breakout and
Futures at Fenway South games.
Summation: Potential
solid high-minors organizational contributor. Ceiling of a
contact-and-defense-oriented reserve outfielder. Approach and
contact skills combined with defense and speed give him a
relatively high floor, but has to show he can impact the ball
consistently. Candidate to take a step forward in the Red Sox
bat speed program.
