Physical Description:
Tall left-hander with a solid frame. Thick at present with
minimal remaining projection.
Mechanics:
Throws from a high-three quarters arm slot. Starts on the third
base side of the rubber. Jerky delivery. Has a high leg kick and
short arm action. Comes across his body and has a lot of moving
parts in his delivery. Fringe-average arm speed.
Fastball: 90-92 mph. Loses velocity as he works deeper
into games, ending up more in the 89-90 mph range. Has added
velocity as he has physically matured. Average command profile.
Throws strikes, keeps the ball down. Fringe-average offering.
Curveball: 74-77 mph. Big, 1-to-7 break.
Spins it well, has feel for the pitch. Throws it often and has
shown the ability to land it for strikes. Will throw to both
lefties and righties. Replaced low-70s version that was a slow,
sweepy pitch that was more of a breaker that rolled to the
plate. Potential average offering.
Changeup:
84-86 mph. Has some feel for offering and at its best, will show
fade. Will get two-seamish when it is on the firm side. Slows
down arm and body noticeably at times, telegraphing pitch.
Below-average potential. |

Slider: 83-84 mph. Loose with short,
2-to-8 break. Potential below-average offering.
Career Notes: Trained at the same
Venezuelan amateur program as Felix Doubront. Participated in
2014, 2015, and 2016 Fall Instructional League. Re-signed with
the organization after briefly becoming a minor league free
agent in Nov. 2020. Pitched for Venezuela in the 2021 Americas
Olympic Qualifier. A starter for most of his career, was used in
a swingman role in 2021 in Portland.
Summation:
Projects as an organizational starter. Four-pitch mix,
but none grade as better than average. Solid pitchability and
feel on the mound. Throws strikes, works quick. Type of arm
every organization needs to fill innings in the high minors.
