Scouting Report:
Large-framed, fully filled-out first baseman. Quiet set-up on approach
.Does not load fully, quick wrists. Full uppercut swing path.
Fringe-average hit tool with good patience at the plate. Plus raw power
with above-average in-game power. No significant lefty-righty splits.
Speed is not a factor. Passable defense at first base. Spent some time in
right field previously, but not since 2017. Won Texas League Player of the
Year and Mariners Minor League Hitter of the Year in 2018. Likely profiles
as an emergency up-and-down player, but has the potential to serve as a
second division role player for a stint if he can keep the strikeouts down and
develop his in-game power to plus. Could serve as a power-hitting pinch
hitter for a team that has the flexibility to carry a first baseman in
that role.
