Scouting Report: Veteran in his second stint with the Red Sox organization. Made his MLB debut in 2002, but has mostly been Triple-A depth throughout his career. Very good athlete. Runs the bases well, but does not steal as many bases any more. Great clubhouse guy. At the plate, Thurston has a nice-looking swing, and can get the bat on the ball against less advanced pitchers. His plate discipline is average, but has improved over the years.  Below-average power. Good range, adequate glove. True utility player who covers second, third, and the outfield well, and can play some shortstop in a pinch.
