Scouting Report: Large-framed right-hander with a sturdy build. Smooth, repeatable delivery. Fastball sits in the 92-93 mph range and tops out at 95 mph. With some strength training, Stroup's fastball could gain even more velocity. Possesses a mid-80s slider with 10-4 break and an 83-84 mph straight changeup. Also added a 11-5 curveball with solid shape and rotation, that sits 76-77 mph. Originally projected to go in the top 10 rounds of the 2008 draft, Stroup slipped due to bonus demands. Missed time in 2010 and 2012 due to injuries, somewhat limited in 2011 and 2013. Converted to the bullpen in 2014.
