Scouting Report:
Ramirez has an all-around offensive game that was hampered in 2009 and
2010 due
to a wrist injury. Before the injury, he consistently showed an
excellent ability to make contact, very good power, and solid
plate discipline. Early in his career, he was considered a poor
defensive catcher that would like need to become a corner infielder, but
his defense has improved in recent years. He's still considered a fringe
defensive catcher, and likely will still end up as a first baseman or
designated hitter down the line. Arm strength, accuracy, and
catch-and-throw mechanics are all below average, but he still manages to
throw out between 20 and 25% of base runners. His blocking
skills and game calling ability are about average with the potential to
be above average. |
