Scouting Report: Who's Mike Jones, you ask? To start, he's a big, strong 1B signed by Boston as a draft-and-follow from the 2004 draft in May 2005. He has high power potential. Knocks the ball out of the park regularly in batting practice. Jones was converted from an outfielder to a first baseman in 2006, and impressed in the GCL despite being somewhat old for the league. He's continued to demonstrate an ability to make contact and above average plate patience at the A-ball levels, but still hasn't shown much home run power in game action. On the negative side, Jones is very slow on the basepaths and unathletic in the field.
