Scouting Report: Jones had a lot of injury problems in college and thus slipped in the draft. Low 90s fastball tops out at 94 mph. Also throws a 12-6 curveball which sits in the high 70s,  and a good circle change. Strikeout pitcher with superb control.  He has shown a lot of success at the lower levels, but not on a consistent enough basis.  When he's off his game, he leaves the ball up in the zone and has been knocked around on occasion as a result.  The organization moved him to the bullpen in 2007 but then back to the rotation in 2008.  Fares equally against both lefties and righties. Considering his repertoire and his K rates, Jones is a strong candidate to become an effective reliever down the line if he can keep the ball down.
