Physcial
Description: Mature frame. Maxed out physically. Strong lower
half.
Mechanics: Over-the-top delivery. Quick
arm with short arm action. Pitches exclusively from the stretch. Quick to
the plate.
Fastball: 91-95 mph. Late life when
he finishes delivery. Has some arm-side run. Shows plus when he’s loose
and working in the upper half of that range. Below-average command and
control.
Breaking Ball: Alternated between a
curveball and slider depending on the outing. Early in the season, threw
more of a curveball at 78-80 mph. That pitch showed two-plane break and
tight rotation when he got on top of the ball. When he comes more from the
side, tends to get loose and slurvey. Average grade pitch. Later in the
season, he started throwing a slider at 84-86 mph that showed hard bite
and late depth in the zone. That pitch is a potential plus offering and
weapon that could miss bats at the highest level.
Changeup: 82-84 mph. Serviceable third-pitch. Work in progress.
Fringe-average potential.
Summation: Profiles
as a middle reliever. Has a chance to stick at end of a big league
bullpen. Three-pitch mix that flashes plus fastball, plus breaking ball
and developing changeup. Combination of velocity and secondary offerings
will miss bats at the big league level. |
