Scouting Report: Tall, lanky Colombian righty signed with Boston in December 2009. Originally slated to start the 2010 season in the DSL, Gomez impressed the Sox brass so much they named him the opening day starter for the GCL Red Sox at the age of 16. Fastball sits 88-90 MPH with some tail. Shows good feel and ease when ball comes out of his hand. Has the ability to add velocity as he fills out his frame. Also mixes in a high-70s straight changeup that drops out of strike zone. Has not yet developed any breaking pitches to use in game action. Very raw, but projectable arm.
