Scouting Report: Plays all infield positions. After spending much of his career at SS and 2B, Chavez has played more 3B in recent years.  A plus defensive player, Chavez has a nice glove, excellent range, solid footwork, and a strong arm.  At the plate, Chavez has mediocre to average tools. Makes average to below average contact.  Below average plate discipline and speed.  Average power for a Triple-A infielder.  Altogether, Chavez's glove and versatility make him a nice insurance chip for the big-league club.
